Kamchatka, Nalychevo National Park
At the beginning of my travel journey, there were no people from the outdoor community around me, and finding information was difficult. To fill this gap, I created this blog. Now, outdoor activities are my hobby, work, and life, and I've gathered a lot of people who travel with a backpack around the world. In my trekking reports, I try to provide more useful information, but each trek begins with emotions. Emotions from a random photo in the feed or stories of people who have caught my attention so much that it became the starting point to learn everything about the place and eventually go there. This project aims to collect emotions in photographs to inspire people to travel to new places.
- Location: Russia, Kamchatka Krai. Nalychevo Nature Park. The closest located to the cities of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Yelizovo. The beginning is the Pinachevo cordon about 30-40 km from Yelizovo along a relatively «hard» road. Pass at 1160 m.
- Best time to visit: August - September
- Route feature: Little-trodden Dzenzur volcano and panoramas of the vastness and special graphics of volcanic mountains. You won't see anything like this on the mountain ranges of the Caucasus.
- Why here: The path leads to Avachinsky volcano with an overnight stay at the foot of Koryaksky (the ideal form and the vastness around are charming), here are the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises, the mountains seem to float above the ground. It's very cold at night, minus temperatures. Walking on the black cinder fields is difficult, feet sink like in snow.
- Advice for those who decide to repeat the route: In August, there are a lot of berries, you can sit in one place and eat everything that grows within arm's reach. Bears also love them, but only young and shy animals engage in this промысел. Large bears catch fish at this time (advantage of August).
- Story from the trek: Verblud and Avachinsky are very civilized, dirty, crowded, and sad. The ascent to Avacha is long but simple up to 2000 m. Above, there are snowfields, wind, and a steep climb. The descent is a pleasure on the cinder. Returning to the city is only possible by « вахтовке » or other all-terrain vehicle, otherwise, on foot, it's a detour of 20 km along the river valley where cars drive.
- Why go: Nalychevo will show Kamchatka without helicopters and all-terrain vehicles. If you want to be in its surroundings alone or without large expenses, welcome, except for a taxi to the starting point and back. Nearby is Khalaktyrsky beach with perfect black sand, surfing, and the endless Pacific Ocean. Taxi costs 700 rubles one way.
- How to get there: Direct flight Moscow - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, flights are available almost every day. It's better to buy them six months in advance. Before the covid, the best time was November. Then the price was 3-4 times lower. It cost me 22,000 rubles round trip. A taxi to Pinachevo will be around 1000 rubles. But it's an individual issue. There is a local taxi app. From Avachinsky, it's easier to look for a ride « вахтовка » or on foot. Food is more expensive, especially dairy and fruits. August is the time for fresh caviar. You can indulge in it. Be careful with protein poisoning. Allocate more days for the route (7-10 days or more), it can rain for days. At this time, it's good at hot springs. Keep in mind that there may be people not ready to see you naked. You can go alone or in small groups, destroy the remains of food, and store provisions airtight and not in the tent. On the way, among the bushes, it's nice to make some noise, scaring away bears. Walk at your own pace ❤️
